Dalnaglar Castle Estate, a ‘Royal’ staycation, on the southern fringe of the Cairngorms National Park Dalnaglar Castle nestles in the heart of Glenshee (aka 'The Fairy Glen') and provides a unique opportunity for those looking to enjoy a an exclusive, yet affordable castle experience. Guests will be viewing the neighbouring mountains and terrain enjoyed by the British Royal Family whilst at Balmoral Castle. The Castle sleeps 18 and provides the perfect setting for special occasions, family and work gatherings and wellbeing and creative retreats. Within the estate you’ll find an abundance of scenic walks including the invigorating Cateran Trail – part of which passes through the estate and is ideal for really testing out your walking boots. There’s salmon fishing on the River Shee and a private lochan ideal for paddle boarding and trout fishing. You can see Dalnaglar Castle as you drive along the infamous 'snow roads' and getting out and about from the castle you’ll find the fabulous town of Braemar, home of the ‘Braemar Gathering’ (reputedly the best Highland Games in the world) only a 30 minute drive away. There’s fabulous tourist towns, restaurants, cafes and shops all within driving distance and Balmoral Castle is well worth a visit. In the winter months, for those looking to brush up on their ski-skills, Glenshee Snowsports Centre is just ten miles away.

We provide a peaceful retreat for families and groups of adventurers. Our safari tent Basecamp is fully appointed with generously sized living and sleeping spaces; the base for your Cairngorm National Park adventures. Laze in hammocks gazing up the mature Scots Pine trees planning the next day’s activity. Wander up to our Poet’s Seat and gaze over toward the Northern Corries of the Cairngorm Mountain. You have your own camping kitchen and wetroom with WC/power shower. A must during your stay is to delight in the unique Lazy Duck experience of a Willow Bush Shower in the forest. All you have to pack for camping is your sleeping bag and towels. We provide blankets, sheets & pillows. Outdoor kitchen with gas stove and fridge; Basic larder: coffee, tea, salt/pepper & cooking oil; Pots, pans, mugs, glasses, crockery, cutlery; Bedsheet & pillows only.
