You sit in a 1 acre grazing field backed by swathes more of Old Caledonian pine. Settle on the nearby Poet's Seat where there are extensive views south to the Cairngorm Mountains. 200 acres of heather and birch moorland adjoin the homestead supporting curlew, wigeon, hen harrier, woodcock, crested tit, oyster catcher and at least the sound of owl and capercaille. Osprey and eagle sometimes visit. Roe deer come and go and red squirrels are in residence year round.
From May to October consider staying with us in the heartland of the Lazy Duck homestead. The Lambing Bothy is bespoke built with features much the same as in the award winning Woodman's Hut and the Duck's Nest. Artisan shaped elm work tops with supports of oak and beech together with reclaimed pine set the colourful tone in an otherwise honest, working hut. There's nothing to beat a breakfast 'cuppa' facing the sunrise from the rustic bench under the window.
Next to you in Lazy Duck's 1 acre field sit a dreamy, cockerel-free hen house, anything up to eight Soay lambs and their mums, an active polytunnel and our considerate, gentle bustle needed to look after all this. Don't worry though, we will disturb you as little as possible.
