BASI is the OFFICIAL TRAINING & GRADING BODY for Snowsport Instructors and Coaches in the United Kingdom and has been offering instructor training since 1962. With its HQ in Grantown on Spey, BASI provides instructor training pathways in Skiing, Snowboarding, Adaptive, Telemark, and Nordic and provides internationally recognised training that allows BASI Members to instruct not just in the UK but all over the world. BASI Courses develop not only your technical and teaching skills but encourage you to develop other core key skills like communication and leadership. BASI courses help develop real life skills. The BASI pathway starts at Level 1 and goes through to the International ISTD Award, Level 4. Whether you are taking a career break or a GAP year or looking to start your career in the outdoors there is a BASI course suitable for you. If you are choosing a ski school make sure you ask for a BASI qualified instructor and look for the BASI Approved Ski School Accreditation Kitemark. BASI Instructors must maintain a valid teaching Licence by completing Refresher courses and they also hold valid first aid certificates. BASI members carry a personal photo ID Instructor licence that is re-issued every year. BASI has 6000 Members and provides excellent membership services including a quarterly newsletter and wideranging equipment and clothing offers.
