Blairgowrie
Add to Itinerary

Sitting on the banks of the River Ericht, Blairgowrie offers access to year-round facilities and an ideal place to begin or end your SnowRoads adventure.

The busy town is the main start point for the 64-mile circular Cateran Trail which follows historic drove roads used by cattle rustlers, known as caterans, and offers a network of walking routes for all abilities.

Blairgowrie is one of the largest towns in Perthshire, sitting a short drive from Perth and Dundee on the banks of the River Ericht, which means access to year-round facilities.  Known as the 'watering place for cattle' for years, the Wellmeadow is located in the centre of the town and is a peaceful, well tended green space and a popular location for events as well as the monthly Community Markets from April to September.

On its doorstep is a host of outdoor activities including canoeing, kayaking, archery, golfing, fishing, hill walking, low level walking, cycling and even husky dog sled rides.

The Scottish raspberry industry was born here, and in the summer, you can buy just picked produce fresh from the fields or from farm shops.  Wildlife is frequently spotted at nearby Auchintaple Loch or the Scottish Wildlife Trust reserve, Loch of the Lowes.
