Grianan is a cosy and comfortable apartment for 2 people that is an ideal base for touring the Highlands. The apartment is part of the farmhouse, but totally self contained, with it's own entrance and porch.
Upstairs is a double bedroom with an ensuite shower room that has a big shower, downstairs is open plan encompassing a fully equipped kitchen, dining furniture and a lounge area with an open fire, should you wish to use it. The family livestock farm is renowned for it's environmental work and variety of wildlife. You are more than welcome to walk round the farm and Alastair, the farmer, can answer your questions and even show you round. ( By arrangement)
Grianan is part of Balliefurth Farmhouse that was built in 1848, the family have been livestock farming here since 1961. We are sure that you will enjoy your stay on our farm and in Grianan (Gaelic for 'the sunny place') There are amazing views of the Cairngorms from the apartment.
There is so much to do in the area it is difficult to know where to start. The farm and the local area is renowned for it's wildlife and birds, there are many walks both on and off farm, both easy and more challenging. The River Spey is the boundary, on one side, of the farm. There are opportunities to fish in it or canoe down it. Grianan is also an ideal base for touring. Distilleries, castles, Culloden battle field, Ospreys at Loch Garten, Loch Ness and many more are all within easy driving from us.
