Howe of Torbeg

Howe of Torbeg offers unique Glamping (glamorous camping) accommodation in an excellent location in the heart of Royal Deeside & the Cairngorms National Park. Come and stay in one of our 4 wooden Glamping Pods or our off-grid Shepherds Hut, surrounded by open farmland and gorgeous birch woodland. Guests can enjoy the tranquility of the Glen and access great walks and beautiful Scottish countryside straight from our site, whilst being only 5 miles from the picturesque village of Ballater with its shops, cafes & restaurants. Beautiful inside and out, our Standard Pods sleep 2 and have comfy futon beds, which can be configured as Twin or Double. Our Luxe Pod is slightly bigger than our Standard pods, and has a super snuggly built in double bed. Perfect for a romantic getaway - or for a family as this pod can accommodate 2 adults + 1 younger child. All Pods are fully insulated & on-grid, with a heater should you need it for colder nights. Our Shepherds Hut is a unique off-grid option, with solar lighting and a cosy log burning stove. With a super comfy built in double bed the Hut is perfect for couples. Outside each accommodation youll find a Kadai fire bowl for BBQs & nights under the stars, camping chairs, and a small deck area and picnic bench. The Wash House is our fully heated shower block, with lots of lovely free hot water on demand. Two covered outside sinks are available for washing up, also with free hot water. The Snug is our communal log cabin where youll find books, games, a small dining table for groups, comfy chairs and a wood burning stove & oven (complete with instructions!). Although a small site, we have a shared grassy area, perfect for games or blanket lounging on sunny days and enjoying the stunning river and Glen views.

The Cottages at Aultmore Estate

Aultmore Estate is situated within the spectacular Cairngorms National Park, surrounded by natural forest and breathtaking views of the Cairngorm Mountains. It is ideally located for all the recreational opportunities of the area, including hiking, biking, fishing, water sports, skiing as well as space within its 25 acres of woodlands and gardens for healthy contemplation. We have three listed Edwardian cottages on the Estate that are available to rent, sleeping up to 4 or 6 guests. The River Spey is only one mile away and is one of Scotland's prime fishing rivers. Cairngorm ski area is fifteen miles away and there are several golf courses in the area. The area is famed for its bird life with ospreys nesting close-by and the rare capercaillie resident in the woods adjacent to the Estate. Shops and restaurants abound in Aviemore as well as Inverness, though one might want to stop in a pub or two in Nethy Bridge or Grantown for a touch of local flavour.

Auchnascraw Mill

A beautifully renovated Mill surrounded by farmland and hills. We are ideally located on the Glenlivet Estate in the Cairngorms National Park. Our Mill is a gorgeous home-away-from-home option! Whether you are in need of a peaceful weekend retreat or on a family vacation the Mill is the perfect place to stay in comfort and style. The casual luxury of the Mill will take your breath away and put you at ease! Look no further...the Mill is the perfect self catering holiday destination for you! Auchnascraw Mill was built around the 1830s and was used for grinding oats. It was a working Mill until the mid 1940s. Lots of original features of the Mill have been incorporated into the renovation to maintain its character. Look for details like the exposed stone walls, use of millstones, gear wheel and unique ironwork. The living room features the original flagstone floors and there is underfloor heating throughout the entire downstairs. Keep cozy in front of the wood stove in the living room, while enjoying panoramic views out each and every window. The Mill has been professionally decorated with high-quality furnishings and accessories throughout. The kitchen features top-of the-line appliances (induction range & cooker, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle, coffee maker) and is fully equipped for all your cooking needs. You will sleep well in either of our comfortable bedrooms! The master bedroom has a super-king size pillow-top mattress and sofa for lounging. The second bedroom has two single beds with pillow-top mattresses that can be zipped together to create another super-king size bed (please let us know how you would like these beds made up). There is also a sofa bed that can be made into a king-size bed in the upstairs nook between the two bedrooms, which can sleep an additional two people. We have a TV with Freesat channels, a dvd player with plenty of dvds and there is free 4G wi-fi, suitable for streaming. The Mill is also equipped for family fun with lots of games, books and toys to enjoy. There is a washer and dryer in our utility room provided for your convenience. We are just over a ten minute drive from the village of Tomintoul, known as the Highest Village in the Highlands where there are a few shops, cafes, pubs, a restaurant and an art gallery. There is a tourist information centre with a museum and the Glenlivet Estate Office which both have lots of information about the area. Well worth a visit! The Mill is also centrally located for: walking, mountain biking, fishing, golfing, wildlife watching, whisky trails, skiing at the Lecht and Cairngorms, visiting the castle routes (Drumin, Corgarff, Ballindalloch and Balvenie to name a few), coastal trails, many towns and more! You can explore the Highlands, Moray coastline, Cairngorms, and Royal Deeside in day-trips from the Mill and look forward to coming back to relax at the end of your day.
